Temi asks, "Oh, got to make it fun, yes?"

Karrin has transferred ThatBard. [OOC]

Karrin has transferred Sparkles. [OOC]

Temi gives a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to ThatBard.

Temi gives a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to Sparkles.

Karrin has transferred Sororitas. [OOC]

Temi gives a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to Sororitas.

(visnet) Staff Karrin: A lot logged in after I sent the initial tell. Did I miss anyone?

Karrin has transferred Joss. [OOC]

Temi gives a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to Joss.

Karrin has transferred Meiari. [OOC]

tell joss damn this man got immortalized
You tell Joss, "Damn this man got immortalized"

Temi gives a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to Meiari.

Joss tells you, "My poor brain "

Meiari holds a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper in her hand.

Meiari swipes a frosting tongue of flame on the end of her finger off the top of her cupcake and
licks it quickly off again.

Sororitas lifts a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to her nose and sniffs
at it.

Karrin states, "We'll get going in a bit."

Meiari states, "Hehehe - I didn't expect that. I love it."

Temi grins.

Karrin has transferred Genielle. [OOC]

Temi gives a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to Genielle.

Sororitas declares, "This is such a great little cupcake. I love it!"

Meiari lifts a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to her nose and sniffs at
it.

Meiari claims, "I hate when the food is so cute and whimsical because I wanna eat it but I wanna
save it forever with my other meeting gifties"

Rosamund states, "Every time"

Karrin claims, "As long as it has more than one bite, you can do both! Just... ignore the bite taken
out."

Hibiscus claims, "Too real."

InvestSouthside claims, "I never eat them. I have a cabinet I put every meeting item in"

Freeman declares, "You can loot a new one from other players who attended! (For legal reasons, this
is a joke)"

Karrin has transferred Prythe. [OOC]

Temi says, "It should have multiple bites, as long as you aren't a staffer. We have big mouths."

Temi gives a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to Prythe.

InvestSouthside claims, "Or you can just simply steal them (No legal disclaimers here)"

Dorothy opens said big mouth.

Karrin states, "We dooooo. I think maybe we need a 'taste' command - that lets you essentially lick
it without taking out a bite."

Hibiscus exclaims, "That would be amazing!"

Freeman says, "Brb, making a cupcake-licker sneaky."

Meiari claims, "I was just saying the other day we needed a taste command muahaha"

Ezekiel says, "All food would come pre-licked for quality assurance."

Karrin states, "Throw it on ideas. Hah."

HIEROPHANT says, "You can check @taste with tool show"

Karrin asks, "Ok! Let's get going. Do I have a volunteer for scribe?"

Hibiscus lifts a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to her nose and sniffs at
it.

Sparkles claims, "I can help if no one else can."

Karrin says to Sparkles, "Appreciated."

Karrin pontificates, "Ok!"

Karrin states, "OOC Chat Rules:

- Approach each topic with the mindset that each person is doing the best they can with the
knowledge they have, staff and player alike.
- Please avoid topics around current events. Nothing should be revealed in an OOC meeting that
others would prefer to find out in game ICly.
- This is not the correct forum for criticism of a specific player or a topic centered around one
player. If there are concerns about a specific player, please address that with staff privately.
- This is not the correct forum for bringing up policy violations. If there are instances of
perceived policy violations, please address that with staff privately."

Karrin asks, "Alrighty, how has RP been this week?"

KindledFlames states, "Really good, had a lot of fun and good scenes"

Hibiscus declares, "Good, thank you all!"

Freeman states, "It's been a mix of people actively saying 'Yes, be involved in this story', people
saying yes, and... to my plans, and a couple of smaller, personal scenes. Greatly appriciated all of
that <3"

Sororitas states, "Been a great week. Had a lot of good scenes a lot of fun"

Kalana claims, "Very good, had some nice scenes, and some unexpected ones, and appreciated how folks
have run with some stuff too"

Rosamund exclaims, "It's been good!"

Karrin states, "I have noticed that a lot of our "new" folks are having their cyans fall off and
becoming established folks. I think it's great."

Temi nods in agreement.

Temi declaims, "Not quite so new folks, now! It's exciting"

say Welcome to the Danger Zone

InvestSouthside states, "Welcome to the Danger Zone"

Sororitas states, "Super great to see so many folks settle in and decided to stay."

Sparkles says, "It's been lovely to see multiple scene choices."

Freeman says, "I do appriciate people not just going meh, not cyan anymore, let's no longer actively
involve them. That's wonderful."

Prythe claims, "I agree with all of the above."

Hibiscus says, "Yeah really appreciate how open everyone has been to scenes."

Karrin wonders, "Any topics this week?"

Karrin has transferred BuzzOven. [OOC]

Rosamund asks, "Oh I might haveo ne? It's in a note I have to you all already but could be worth
bringing it up here like I was supposed to a few weeks ago lol "

Sororitas questions, "I sorta do?"

Karrin says, "Sure."

Karrin states to BuzzOven, "We did the check on how RP was this week, and I've asked for topics."

Temi gives a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to BuzzOven.

Temi claims, "We had that note from the Reeves, too"

Karrin states, "Ok! We'll do our updates, and then move on to the topics."

Karrin wonders to Dorothy, "You first?"

Dorothy states, "I have slowly gotten back into the grind of tackling build requests. But as it is
flu season, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been afflicted with the feels gross, dizzy, and
headachey off and on, so I apologize for the delays."

Prythe pontificates, "RL and health always come first. Feel better!"

Freeman claims, "What Prythe said."

Temi nods in agreement.

BuzzOven states, "My rp has been good, if limited by RL this week. Annoying thing, RL."

Sororitas declares, "Definitely rest up!"

Dorothy claims, "Luckily Karrin is good at reminding me of that :D Thank you though. I am pretty
sure I'm mostly over it. I looked at one build and went 'nah that's going to take more brain power
than I currently have' haha."

Karrin claims to BuzzOven, "It's a pain."

Temi claims, "Yeah, always getting in the way."

BuzzOven states, "Er literally. "

Karrin muses, "Ok! Temi?"

Prythe states, "Yeah, apparently when they told me as a kid, 'You can be anything you want when you
grow up', guy-who-just-MUDs-all-day was not on the list. Disappointment."

Karrin queries, "If we could only get paid for it, mm?"

Prythe nods at Karrin.

Temi states, "Ah, yeah, little bit of an emotionally draining week this week OOCly, so not as
productive as I'd meant to be, but I know I have a couple plots I owe you guys a response on now,
hopefully today"

Temi claims, "Took a fun day yesterday, so should get back to some more of that today and get to at
least a couple of those."

Karrin claims to Temi, "Well deserved time off."

Sororitas claims, "True facts."

Temi claims, "No other real big things going on. I know there's Magebane planned next week, so
we're looking for winter stuff to be ready potentially the weekend after that."

Freeman declares, "Winter stuff! "

Karrin says, "So excited for the winter stuff, honestly."

Freeman dons christmas hat

Meiari dances excitedly, "My two favorite holidays"

Temi says, "Alright, back to you"

Temi nods at Karrin.

Karrin states, "I have been overwhelmed with some OOC stuff the last couple weeks, but hopefully
will get back to normal soon. My goal is in my title - I have about 5-6 submissions I need to get
through and award, and one book I need to write myself."

Karrin states, "Lochan is dealing with some RL now, but said he will (hopefully) be on back in a few
days."

Karrin questions to Rosamund, "You were first for topics, I think?"

Karrin asks, "Ok, I'll bump to the next, and we can come back?"

Karrin queries to Sororitas, "You?"

Rosamund declares, "Sorry, I had to step away but yeah I'll go after Sororitas!"

Karrin declares to Rosamund, "No worries!"

Sororitas says, "So with the funny bandits about I noticed early this morning that it seemed a few
spawned in without clothes. I didn't really think about it at the time but I'm now worried about if
they are spawning without weapons. And if so to maybe put out a PSA to new players about that."

Hibiscus is idle.

Hibiscus is no longer idle.

Hibiscus has returned from AFK.

Karrin states, "Naked bandits. Well."

Eloxotzi did not complete the match with Joss for a quest point.

HIEROPHANT says, "It's possible someone is going around stealing their clothes but that seems more
likely a bug"

Capitalism stuffs the box labeled, 'Stolen Bandit Clothes' back under his desk. "Sounds horrible."

Karrin chuckles.

Sororitas asks, "At the time I rode by, went 'wait what' then chuckled but it was super early like
3am serve time so it could be stolen but less likely maybe?"

Freeman claims, "The pantsler strikes again D:"

Karrin says, "Ok, we can definitely look into it. If beating up the naked bandits sounds fun,
though, enjoy."

Sororitas claims, "Most folks are likely to be beat up by them if they have no weapons."

Hibiscus claims, "I saw them only a few hours ago, but I didn't know it was a bug."

Karrin declaims, "OH YEAH!"

Hibiscus claims, "Were they supposed to beat you up? I was able to walk past."

Karrin states, "Yeah, so... they get crazy strong when they aren't armed. That's right."

Sororitas says, "I didn't really think about it until we were talking about new players/no longer
cyans."

InvestSouthside cackles.

Temi claims, "They aren't supposed to be aggressive, they're more pickpockets"

Freeman states, "Wait, I think I remember reading about this on a board. "

Karrin nods.

Sororitas says, "They do attack if you don't pay fast enough sometimes."

Karrin claims, "But you can just walk away. You don't have to stop."

InvestSouthside states, "They stop people for money and if you dont pay they jump you"

Sororitas claims, "If they stop you they don't let you leave without fighting or paying. At least
last I tried."

Karrin claims, "Ahh, gotcha. Ok."

Sororitas says, "Granted neither is a problem for me... newer players though."

Sororitas says, "I also tend to run by too fast."

Karrin muses to Temi, "This something you can help with, I hope? Checking the spawning?"

Temi claims, "The spawning is in code, but I can look and see if they are armed at least"
Karrin claims to Temi, "Ah, alrighty. Sounds good."

Karrin questions to Rosamund, "You next?"

Rosamund states, "Yeah, sorry."

Rosamund claims, "Like six things exploding at once lol. "

BuzzOven is idle.

BuzzOven is no longer idle.
BuzzOven has returned from AFK.

Karrin wonders to Rosamund, "We have one more, if you'd like us to come back closer to the end so
you can focus on other things?"

Rosamund states, "So basically, I was wondering if the tiny herb seeds, dried gooseberry, or grass
seeds for mixed grain and seeds (1350) were foragable items."

Rosamund claims, "Because I've seen them for sale in a shop, but I've tried foraging for them to no
avail really. "

BuzzOven says, "Tiny herb seeds yes. No idea on the others. I was wondering the same on blackberry
seeds."

Prythe is idle.

Prythe is no longer idle.

Prythe has returned from AFK.

Sororitas says, "I... want to say there is... I could not tell you how common though."

Temi says, "I don't know that they necessarily all are, but there's a couple of different types of
foragables"

Karrin states, "If you have a home, you can ask for a special forageable to be added to an outdoor
room, for a charge, too."

Karrin queries, "The limit is one, but you could get it there, maybe?"

Karrin glances at Temi questioningly.

BuzzOven states, "Oh that's right."

Temi finishes abruptly, "There's ones that are based on sector - which is a terrain type, which
means anywhere you see that terrain, those foragables will be there"

Temi states, "And the other is specific to an individual room, and those will be harder to find, but
are more likely to be specifically thematic"

Temi finishes abruptly, "And yeah, you can purchase forageables for outdoor rooms at your house, but
that depends on your purpose - if you want regular access for something you want to find often, it's
a good way to go about it, but if you want a cheap way to get a hold of something once, that's going
to be way more expensive than just buying it"

Karrin states, "Yeah. I'd only do that if you want it frequently/often."

Sparkles is idle.

Temi says, "But yeah, we can semi-easily track what the terrain type forageables are, but the room
-specific ones are not necessarily easy to index again"

BoyNextDoor says, "I'd recommend getting a clump and go forage the wilds around the city. There are
a lot of forageables and there is some mild fluctuation even in the same sector/terrain. At least
from what I've observed."

ThatBard claims, "There is also an IC book that tells you what you can forage where so, visit the
library. XD"

HIEROPHANT claims, "Room descriptions can give hints to forageables not shown on forage list"

Sparkles is no longer idle.
Sparkles has returned from AFK.

HIEROPHANT claims, ":)"

Jiraiya is idle.

Karrin queries, "Ok, any more on this one?"
Jiraiya is no longer idle.

Jiraiya has returned from AFK.

Karrin states, "Alllllrighty."

Karrin claims to Sparkles, "Your turn."

Sparkles says, "So this might be kind of a groupthink question more than a solid yes/no. However, I
put forth the idea of how do we as a collective playerbase best meet our long-form and long-term
roleplay expectations vs how best to encourage the excitement of our newer folks. As sometimes and I
could be wrong, some difficulties it feels might partially come from different 'pace' expectations."

Freeman states, "I think it's important in this one to distinguish between IC impatience (good,
roleplay) and OOC impatience. "

Freeman queries, "That being said, the pacing does seem relatively low in comparison to some other
places, so at least nailoing tht down somehow would be very good, to set expectations ahead of time
I suppose?"

Karrin states, "Different pace expectations is likely very real, especially when people are coming
in from other places. Now, I have been in some place where it is WAY slower, but... also some places
where it is way faster."

Temi nods in agreement.

Temi states, "I have definitely been places where it is faster"

Capitalism says, "I've had both happen. Sometimes IC impatience can be good... most of the time I
feel personally that it rushes me to try and finish the scene instead of fleshing it out."

Sororitas states, "Definitely good to distinguish between the two. Though there is definitely say
this game is a lot slower than some expect. Especially when you consider if you get a gm/master
level in a skill in three ooc months you have ICly reached the pinnacle of the kingdom in a IC Year.
Which is kind of wild when you think about it."

Sparkles claims, "So I don't propose to know all the answers on this one, it's why I'm bringing it
up. And it might be a longer-term sort of conversation."

Sororitas also realizes she is a terrible messenger for such a statement.

ThatBard says, "I do not know if that is still policy, but the official progression timeline for
promotions used to be at maximum one rank every OOC month. But I may be misremembering that."

Karrin says, "One of the things we would need to combat, I think, is... the idea that there is a way
to 'win' this game. It's not really the intention. Here, we build stories, which takes time. I admit
that I know some newer players will adjust to it better than others. Some... the pace here, the
social aspect of the RP, just won't be their cup of tea."

Karrin states to ThatBard, "Mmmm, when staff was more, uhm. Micromanaging."

Temi states, "That's still in there, but we're not closely overseeing that."

Karrin claims, "I... honestly don't care. If you have players that are showing promise, who are
around, who are learning and growing, if it's sooner than that, it's fine with me."

BuzzOven claims, "It's definitely quicker than Arx was but slower than some more action oriented
games. I personally think it's in a sweet spot. But people have to be into RP way more than
mechanics here."

ThatBard asks, "What is the current stance then? Up to GL?"

Karrin states, "My opinion? Yeah. I am definitely not interested in micromanaging the GLs to that
level. I might occasionally ask them to do something (get some news out, blah blah) - but at most
what I'd ask for would basically come down to writing a letter. All other GL things, as far as I am
concerned, are GL things."

Freeman says, "I think there is also a difference between "Days the PC has existed" and "Roleplayed
hours" and "Online hours". Putting OOC day timers on progression as opposed to 'achievable things in
game' it kind of creates a situation where just... not logging in is the right play, to avoid
trouble before promotion. I've also noticed that stuff like the IP point rollover sort of forces me
to 'rush' IP related stuff, while the pacing of the game in general is measured in days, sometimes
weeks, not hours. Also yes, what Sororitas said. especially with high wis/int, skill gains seem
really fast (Which, good thing. Let's not make grinding skills part of the gameplay loop in a social
game).

That all being said: Once things do get popping, I've noticed the game really does draw one in, so
I think it's in a good spot, but expectation management is definately a thing."

Karrin states, "Which are not staff things. I have enough to worry about. I can't also run every
guild."

Temi claims, "I probably wouldn't rush to go through too quickly since growth RP not just gaining
ranks is part of what really leads to sticking"

Meiari claims, "I am biased as this is my first and only MUD, but I feel like the pacing here is
good. I don't want to rush my character's development. I'm here for a long time, not a short time. I
also feel like a lot of the guilds offer steps to build up their guildee's stories. Things you need
to accomplish to get a promotion. And there's a lot you can learn and explore to help supplement
rushing an end goal. I know for me inspiration for crafts and events can be hard to get if I'm not
involved in daily RP."

Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.

Hibiscus is idle.

Hibiscus is no longer idle.
Hibiscus has returned from AFK.

Karrin states, "If I feel things are leaning OOC rather than IC, or there's some kind of bleed that
is unfair OOCly, I'll step in. But, otherwise... IC things are IC and can be handled IC."

Karrin states to Sparkles, "I think you're right that there's no particular right or wrong answer
here, or solid yes or no. Just something to stay conscious of as we get new players wandering in."

Sparkles nods her head.

Karrin asks, "Well, we have gotten to the top of the hour. Any other last minute comments before I
punt you back to grid, rudely?"

Temi questions, "I think we didn't get to the Reeve topic, I guess we'll save that for next week?"

Karrin exclaims, "Oh, that's right!"

Karrin questions, "We can stay - if people are willing to stay another 10 or so?"

Meiari says, "I'm good for whatever"

Sororitas claims, "I'm happy to stay. Now I'm intrigued."

Karrin says, "Let me know if you want to be punted back to grid - otherwise, let's Reeve topic."
Karrin says to Temi, "Your floor."

HIEROPHANT is idle.

HIEROPHANT is no longer idle.
HIEROPHANT has returned from AFK.

Temi claims, "So, Symon requested that we bring this up at the OOC meeting. He was hoping for some
help brainstorming ideas for getting people into the Reeves, rewards that we can have to make them a
more desirable guild, or sorts of things that people would like to see, etc."

HIEROPHANT claims, "A minigame similar to what some other guilds have that give new Reeves things to
do, based upon the NPCs-as-ingredients crafting system we already have, to represent Reeves
arresting people beyond the small, small world of player characters. Perhaps."

Temi nods.

HIEROPHANT claims, "Maybe an opportunity for crossover with those existing minigames, if they happen
to stumble upon the NPCs those minigames use."

Temi says, "They do have a couple crafting-style mini quests"

Temi claims, "But we've looked at the potential for more of them at some point"

Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.

HIEROPHANT queries, "...do the new Reeves know they have this?"

HIEROPHANT claims, "Because I certainly didn't know they already had that."

Sparkles queries, "So I say this very, very carefully however from what I can see/tell we get people
interested in joining the Reeves, indeed, I've had friends join the game and want to be Reeves.
However, it does seem to take a bit to get them 'into stuff. So I do wonder if maybe there's ways to
make the onboarding for folks easier?"

Karrin claims, "It's been around for a few years. I know someone about... eh... 3-4 years ago who
used to utilize them."

Freeman wonders, "So I have two parts of my opinion to this, firstly, in my experience, clans in MUD
law-enforcement is very much dependent upon your crew, so to speak. So if you have no reeves, it's
going to be hard to get a unit going, because no-one in reeves so not much going on so noone in the
reeves is a vicious cycle. Could we consider perhaps like getting a couple of people to colab on
getting a whole reeve unit in game? Like a few cadets, a commander, and just ICly have them transfer
in. This would allow them to be a unit, and more easily draw in new people.

Secondarily, I spoke to a player who played a reeve but stopped playing, and he had mostly problems
with that he didn't feel there was a lot to do, so maybe that's to do with the speed of progression,
and expectation management of the previous topic? (Now that I type it, definately, 90 percent of his
reasons why he thought the game was not for him was the pacing of early game) "

Karrin states, "But that doesn't mean the current reeves know, necessarily."

Temi says, "They have report guys that come to complain in front of their headquarters, so if
they're reading there, they should have seen them"

Temi states, "Though I should double-check them, because I have noticed descriptions I know I wrote
on some have disappeared"

Temi nods at Freeman.

Temi states, "So another pacing thing, especially for early Reeves"

Temi claims, "But yeah, if you notice those quests have lost their descriptions when you look at
them, post a typo note"

HIEROPHANT says, "Things-to-do is a struggle for every guild to some degree, since TI is very much
built on a stance of providing a foundation in the background of players making their own fun - it
has tools to create RP more than it does activities built-in. Empty guilds are really hard to
recover, because a lot of RP for a given character is with your guildmates, so if there's no Reeves
there's nobody to just hang out with when you can't think of anything else to do. Vicious cycle,
definitely."

Freeman states, "Secondarily, the second big impulse is a visibly active small fry kind of criminal,
which I feel is the sort of high action die quick role that the current game climate just doesn't do
a lot. Like playing a dumbass pickpocket just to get in trouble isn't something I see a whole lot of
right now, though if you have an active guard unit, that cat-and-mouse game can be fun, if both
sides commit to making it enjoyable. "

ThatBard states, "As a former Reeve player, I think Reeve rp is very different from the expectations
you have, wanting to play a Reeve. I for example as a complete newbie, joined the gaming thinking
that we would solving crimes, Sherlock holmes style, But that is not really what Reeve rp is."

HIEROPHANT states, "It has more Sheriff of Nottingham vibes than it does Holmes, in my mind"
Temi nods in agreement.

Temi says, "It should encompass both, but definitely leans more sheriff"

HIEROPHANT says, "Less 'solve the mystery' most of the time and more 'beat people into compliance'"

ThatBard says, "Also Reeve rp can easily gain you enemies, but not many allies. And in contrast to
the Knights, they don't have a friendly guild and massive political power to back them."

Sparkles states, "I also think and I could be wrong but it might be ... as kind of hinted, when
folks imagine the police force 'in the past' medieval/renaissance type times isn't what people think
about/romanticize they tend to imagine like Victorian times. Gaslamp type stuff. So I do wonder if
some helpfiles and how to envision it might be helpful."

InvestSouthside says, "I would also argue to a degree it also is it's own antagonistic role that
most people take up the role of not expecting."

BuzzOven claims, "Most MUDs have a law enforcement problem because people like the criminals and
they have a lot of friends. It's an unpleasant and lonely role. It likely ought to focus a lot on
NPCs and VNPCs and "

BuzzOven says, ".. and plots."

HIEROPHANT says, "Reeves have amazing tools for plots for sure. Symon has been critical to a few,
himself, but he's one guy."

ThatBard claims, "I think the reeves would get on more, if there were more reeves around, and that
is kind of the problem."

HIEROPHANT nods.

Temi states, "Yeah, getting to the point where they are good is the hard part"

Freeman states, "Antag guardsman is absolutely fun, if you have a rough-and-tumble (maybe former
criminal, with secrets) gang to fall back on. Laughing with your two fellow soldiers while the
criminal runs off after getting a beating is very fun. Being alone is less fun. (Disclaimer, my
guard experience was in a place where they were 1000percent antags, including corruption and other
such stuff)"

Sororitas says, "I think there is also, in my limited view, a bit less of a feeling of heritage and
philosophy and culture, to the Reeves than to the Knights. Knights and Inquisitors as the closest
parallel have a lot more weight of feeling they have an inbuilt culture to build on and RP. Not sure
how to help the Reeves grow that though without already having the Reeves in the slots to form one."

tell temi I know as a brotherhood boy it would be alot more fun to have the cat and mouse chase. I
got excited when Symon was investigating the store robberies and graffiti sillies.
You tell Temi, "I know as a brotherhood boy it would be alot more fun to have the cat and mouse
chase. I got excited when Symon was investigating the store robberies and graffiti sillies."

HIEROPHANT says, "There is the frank reality that it's hard to beat compliance into people if you're
outnumbered all the time, yes. That's what I'm thinking of the minigame for - something similar to
what the other minigames can do in the form of reward tokens that aren't silver, but provide
temporary tools and amenities so that there's a reason to go -do- those quests beyond small bits of
silver or busywork"

ThatBard says, "Yeah. Reeves just don't have stuff like belting ceremonies. And most people know
what a Squire does, but the Reeve equivalent is less established in pub-culture."

Temi queries, "So some more of those ceremonies and things to feel special, in addition to just the
stuff to do, too?"

Temi queries, "Obviously with a different feel than the direction the knights go?"

HIEROPHANT claims, "Frankly, the whole time I've played Reeves have been as unpopular as Inquisitors
- no more than 3 active at a time."
Karrin nods.

Jiraiya asks, "Is this also a reflection of our pvp culture declining?"

Temi says, "Potentially"

Temi nods at Jiraiya.

Freeman states, "Also! With any such role, we all can help by lifting them up. Respect the reeve (or
disrespect them if your PC would), tremble before them, give them taht stage. Even if you codedly
could trounce them. "

HIEROPHANT claims, "But unlike the Inquisition you don't get a direct path to the DEEPLORE(tm).
Yeah, that's probably a factor also."

Prythe is idle.

ThatBard claims, "We are also splitting the martial inclined players between the Reeves and Knights
and the Knights are just more attractive."

Sororitas states, "I think giving the Reeves some more feeling of heritage and culture to perform
might actually encourage more to join. Then again I am a very biased player. I love the feeling of
those rituals and binding tenets."

HIEROPHANT states, "I'm not sure how to attract more people to try the Reeves, honestly. But I at
least have some notions on how to help keep the ones we do get, around, which is at least half the
problem."

Prythe is no longer idle.
Prythe has returned from AFK.

Sororitas trails off, "Also yes less PvP over all, multiple guilds fighting over PvP players, and
the Reeves being emptier.. granted the Knights have hadn't had new folks in a minute...."

Temi claims, "I do like the sound of that, yeah. It may have been left a little blander."

Karrin nods.

Freeman claims, "That's something you can add by getting in as a unit, add some unit specific
traditions, ceremonies, ect. In the place where I came in after such a unit, it was a delight to
learn the various silly rituals and tradition (and, as a power-hungry new sergeant, choose which
ones to keep and such). Being able to say "My sergeant did this ceremony, as did his sergeant before
him,a nd the one before that" is very cool."

Karrin says, "I think that's something we can reasonably work with. Maybe add some more formal
ceremony, maybe even look at the roles some."

Temi says to Karrin, "You are planning to talk to everybody about their special roles too."

Karrin nods.

Karrin claims, "Yeah, Symon and I have already chatted briefly."

Ezekiel claims, "Give them something easy to fight against. NPCs or a more open and obvious
opposite. I've played a lot of law enforcement characters on different MUDs and it's the most mind
numbing thing without some activity or things to look forward to."

Karrin says, "I think as a playerbase, too, just being inclusive. You don't have to like the Reeves
to include the characters that play Reeves in things."

Karrin states, "Though, that said, this pbase is incredibly inclusive overall."

HIEROPHANT claims, "If doing the little sidequests, like arresting an NPC mugger or pickpocket or
cutpurse, gave a 'merit token' that lasts an OOC week before decaying, and you could spend those
merit tokens on temporary tools that you would either need another guild's skills to obtain (such as
a battering ram that reduces the damage you take when you bash a door down - a mirror to
lockpicking, but not equivalent) or a Reeve bloodhound that temporarily improves your Tracking
skill; OR things you would normally need to spend several weeks saving up silver for to gain
permanently (combat retainers, a horse) that can help even the odds when you want to go make an
arrest as an unpopular role.

I think that might help with retention, if not recruitment."

Karrin has transferred Eeel. [OOC]

Temi gives a cupcake topped with a lute-playing, chocolate grasshopper to Eeel.

Prythe claims, "We could start a join Reeve/Physician initiative. 'You Beat 'Em, We Treat 'Em!' I
think it has a lot of potential."

ThatBard claims, "Nice."

HIEROPHANT states, "Put that on the back of your Physician cloaks, please"

HIEROPHANT claims, "Ocarian Clinic motto right there"

ThatBard says, "I think having set uniforms and stuff would also help the Reeves out. Give them an
identity as a group."

Eeel asks, "What's the current topic?"

Karrin states, "They do have those."

HIEROPHANT claims, "They have that, but it's only out of their guild shop"

Temi says to Eeel, "How to get Reeves to join up and stick"

ThatBard says, "Maybe pins or something to denote rank."

Meiari wonders, "I think maybe if they were given the cadet uniform when they first app in that
would be helpful? So it's not reliant on meeting up with the GL?"

Karrin states, "THey purchase that, it's not an app role."

Karrin says, "We can watch for it, but we might miss it. Depends if we're online to see it."

Temi says, "But if beat out all the kinks in roles, we can get stuff like uniforms and such into it"

Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.

HIEROPHANT states, "I think that can be handled by a notice in chargen when you buy the role with a
reminder to mail your GL to introduce yourself"

HIEROPHANT claims, "Other than that, a while ago (on discord, I think?) we saw ideas for app-in
mages and nobles geared toward returning players spending QP for extra stuff in chargen"

Karrin states, "We do have an OOC note that gets added to the personal board. Mailing is sometimes
harder for BRAND new players. I've known players longer in the game who still struggle with it."

Karrin states to HIEROPHANT, "And yes, that was there for app ins."

HIEROPHANT wonders, "Perhaps we extend that idea to Proconsul applications, to maybe invite a
veteran player to take up the day-to-day stuff through the app system? Or even just the other higher
Reeve positions?"

Karrin states, "It'd be for any app position, so definitely would be an option, as far as I am
concerned, yeah."

HIEROPHANT nods.

HIEROPHANT claims, "I'd want Inquisitors to get similar benefits, so, higher ranking Reeves for
sure."

HIEROPHANT states, "...Maybe we make sure whoever apps in as a Reeve gets a note or a little
pamphlet or something that explains how to use the weird archaic Ahalin progs when you arrest
people"

HIEROPHANT states, "As far as I know, that's is oral history"

Temi claims, "That would imply I know how they work"

Karrin chuckles.

HIEROPHANT states, "You would have to ask Symon or one of the Knights for writing that, I don't know
either"

Karrin says, "We can look into it, though, or tap into Symon's knowledge. He knows."

Temi states, "That should probably be in a helpfile if it's not already"

Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.

HIEROPHANT says, "It's been passed on by word of mouth this whole time, whatever documentation
exists is just that bad, I'm told."

Karrin claims, "Something we can look at, then."

Sororitas says, "It is mostly an oral history with some half explained notes in Ahalin."

HIEROPHANT nods.

Temi claims, "Well, I'd suggest someone should get that written up for a helpfile please, yes"

Sororitas gives a thumbs up!

Karrin says, "Alrighty. Thanks so much, we'll definitely look into each of these. Note that the
website is having some struggles at the moment, we'll figure it out in time."

Karrin asks, "Any last comments before I send you back to the grid?"

Jiraiya shakes his head.

Karrin states, "Alright, you all have a wonderful time on grid. We'll see you about the same time
next week."

Karrin waves.
